YASSAMIN ANSARI
Yassamin Ansari is an Arizona native, daughter of immigrants, and a proud resident of Phoenix City Council District 7. A product of public schools, she earned an advanced degree and worked in top-level leadership positions. She brings her experience to serve her community in Phoenix.
She has served as a senior climate advisor to the United Nations, worked as a policy advisor to Global Climate Action Summit.

COVID-19 Recovery
We know that the pandemic has affected the way we live and work. Ansari understands the health crisis at hand, and she will aid our community with recovery efforts. From the early onset of the pandemic, Ansari took action and began working with homebound seniors, hosted and participated in several food drives for pandemic relief, and connected resources to those in need.
Affordable Housing in Phoenix
Phoenix experienced over 23,400 evictions in 2020, and a surge in the unsheltered homeless population by 83% from 2017 to 2020. The average resident living in District 7 spends 45.6% of their income on housing. It is the highest amount compared to other city council districts in Phoenix. Ansari has a plan to make homes affordable to residents. She will expand tenant protections, work with developers to include affordable housing units in housing developments, address homelessness and repurpose abandoned buildings into affordable housing units.

Local Economy
Ansari recognizes the need for more economic development in our community. She will work to grow the Loop 202 Tech Corridor, support small businesses with resources, and support infrastructure projects like light rail and highway expansion.
Clean Air, Safe Water Supply
& Low-Cost Electricity
2020 was officially the 2nd driest and 2nd hottest year ever recorded in Arizona. There were 207 heat-related deaths with an additional 134 cases under investigation in Maricopa County. In the City of Phoenix, air quality and pollution have been the worst in District 7. An on-going drought, increasing wildfires, declining air quality, aging sewer, and water systems and long-term water scarcity issues, Ansari recognizes that Phoenix is at the forefront of the climate crisis. As a recognized leader in sustainability and climate change, she will invest in clean and renewable energy, support the City of Phoenix’s Tree and Master Shade Plan into action, and strengthen our city’s recycling and composting programs.

Early ballots began mailing on Feb. 10, but the deadline to request an early mail-in ballot is Feb. 26.
Feb. 10 – March 5: In-person early voting is available 8 a.m.– 5 p.m. weekdays on the 15th floor of Phoenix City Hall at 200 W. Washington St.
March 6: Voting Centers open 10 a.m.– 4 p.m.
